Big Bear Lake, California / April 16, 2009 – The Alderwood Group (Alderwood), a Big Bear Lake- based timeshare management company, announced today that it will sponsor a dog for adoption through Bear Mountain Dog Rescue. “We know our success is linked to the quality of life in our community,” says Tom Johnson, CEO of Alderwood. “We believe investing in and helping others inspires all of us to build the kind of town we are proud to be a part of.” This latest contribution continues a theme for Alderwood – benevolence is just a part of doing business. Alderwood is also active globally by encouraging entrepreneurs to follow their own business notions with the help of www.Kiva.org, a micro-lending website with a mission to alleviate poverty worldwide. “We have developed a lending team at Alderwood,” says Johnson. “It feels good to move forward, not just in our own business, but by getting involved, connecting with real entrepreneurs and hopefully making a difference in the world.”

Locally Alderwood offers financial support year-round and contributes to The Community Church by the Lake Benevolent Fund – a fund set up to assist those in financial need; sponsors the Annual Youth Basketball Tournament; assists Big Bear’s Parks and Recreation with their Summer Concert Series; and partners with the Resort Association to host media professionals – an important aspect of helping drive tourism to the Big Bear Valley. “Perhaps most importantly, we believe in generosity when it comes to our staff,” stated Stephanie Lawrence, Director of Administration. “I know our staff appreciates this too: Our retention rate is 95%.” Alderwood employs 70 full and part-time resort management staff members offering each access to a 401K program, health benefits, recognition and awards, family picnics and lodging discounts. Alderwood recently instituted a Wellness Program providing education on healthy eating and exercise guidelines with an emphasis on living fully and safely. In addition, an in- house yoga class is offered to all employees every Wednesday evening.
